Bild Health Launches App to Help People on GLP-1s Keep and Build Muscle While They Lose Weight

Founded by a 52-year-old Zepbound user, Mike Putnam, Bild Health is now live on iOS and Android with Apple Watch and Wear OS apps, Apple Health and Health Connect sync, and free protein, body fat, and water calculators

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., September 30, 2026

Bild Health, the app that helps people on GLP-1 medications retain and build muscle as they lose weight, launched today on the App Store and Google Play. A meaningful share of the weight lost on GLP-1 drugs can come from lost muscle. Bild Health sets a daily protein target sized to each user's lean mass, makes it easier to hit with one-tap logging of protein, water, and workouts, and tracks fat and lean mass separately so users can see their muscle holding or growing as the fat comes off.

Founder Mike Putnam built Bild Health for himself first. After learning he was pre-diabetic in 2023, he started taking Ozempic and later switched to Zepbound, and in 2026 discovered how much of GLP-1 weight loss can be muscle.

"I built Bild Health because I needed it," said Mike Putnam, founder and CEO of Bild Health. "I'm 52. Three years ago I was overweight, low on energy, and my doctor told me I was pre-diabetic. A couple of years in, I switched to Zepbound and learned that you really have to worry about muscle loss. I measured mine, and I wasn't feeling as strong as I wanted to. So I built the tool I wished I'd had on day one, for people like me. It's working, and I'm excited to share it with the world."

The free Bild Health apps are available now on iOS and Android, each with a companion watch app for one-touch logging from the wrist. Bild Health syncs with Apple Health on iPhone and Health Connect on Android, pulling in weight and body composition from smart scales. It supports GLP-1 injectables, oral GLP-1 pills, and compounded semaglutide, tirzepatide, and retatrutide, with dose reminders, injection-site rotation, and estimated medication levels.

Bild Health Pro, available for $59.99 per year with a 7-day free trial, adds three features:

  • AI protein estimator: estimates the protein in a meal from a photo or voice description so users can hit their daily target more easily without weighing food.
  • DEXA integration: imports DEXA scans, including sync with BodySpec, so clinical-grade measurements anchor the daily smart-scale trend.
  • PDF export: a health report users can bring to their health providers.

Anyone on a GLP-1, whether or not they use the app, can try Bild Health's free tools at bildhealth.com:

Bild Health is free to download on the App Store and Google Play. Bild Health provides education and tracking, not medical advice.
