MeAgain records your day.
Bild Health measures your body.
MeAgain captures more of your day than anything else in the category: food by photo, voice or barcode, doses, sites, side effects. What it hands back is a weight trend, progress photos and a share card. None of those tells you whether the pounds you lost were fat or muscle. Bild Health charts fat mass and lean mass in pounds, under every dose step you took.

IN SUMMARY
MeAgain is the widest all-in-one GLP-1 app, and the biggest of the indie trackers by claimed installs (five ways to log food, protein and water goals tuned for suppressed appetites, half a million claimed users), and its daily loop is free. On food capture inside a GLP-1 app, nothing here beats it.
The honest difference is one MeAgain itself states: its site tells readers it does not measure muscle mass: the measuring, it says, happens in a clinic. Bild Health is the app for exactly that clinic number: DEXA scans imported as checkpoints on a measured fat-and-lean trend from your own body-composition scale, protein sized to fat-free mass, dose history in the same record.
Why one weight line isn't enough
Two numbers from the research. Neither is about an app.
That is the span across pooled trials of each medication (arms without a structured lifting programme); with lifting added it fell to 17.5%. The number that matters is yours, not the pooled one, and you only get yours by measuring it.
People eating twice the RDA in a controlled deficit held more lean tissue than people at the standard intake. That number divides by body weight: a denominator that shrinks as the diet works, which is the problem a measured lean mass exists to solve.
What a body-composition record adds to a very good day log
Assume the logging is already solved. Three things appear once the record includes what the weight is made of.
Two lines instead of one
Fat mass and lean mass, in pounds, charted separately. A weight trend falls for a good reason or a bad one and looks the same either way. Two lines tell you which month you just had, while you can still change the next one.
- Fat mass and lean mass held apart, never merged into one total
- Body-fat percentage alongside, not instead of, the masses
- Readings sync in from a compatible body-composition scale through Apple Health

Every dose step, with its outcome attached
MeAgain's dose and site logging is genuinely good. This is what a dose log becomes with a composition series under it: each step up the ladder gets a measured before and after instead of a memory of how the month felt.
- Injections and dose changes dated in the same record as the trend
- The trend as a per-week rate on every Results tile — direction, not one morning's reading
- The change in fat and lean across a step, rather than across a guess

Scans as the checkpoint, protein sized to the result
Impedance readings drift with hydration and time of day, so the daily series needs an anchor. Connect a BodySpec account and every scan imports on its own — and your protein target draws on the lean mass it reports.
- Every scan brings its fat, lean and body-fat numbers along
- Scan markers land on the estimate's own chart, so drift is there to see
- Protein target recalculated whenever the lean-mass reading moves

The best capture surface in the category, and what it captures
Two things from MeAgain’s own record are worth knowing before you weigh this choice. Its premium tier covers exactly four things (photo food logging, Journey Cards, the Capybara widget and unlimited Capy chat) while the daily loop stays free. And its iOS app has not shipped a release since May 2026 while its ratings keep climbing, which reads like a big release brewing rather than a stall; check its version history before you decide.
MeAgain is not a thin app, and this page is not pretending otherwise. It takes food by photo, by voice, by barcode, by search and by quick-add. It logs injections and pills across the major GLP-1 products, remembers your sites and helps you rotate them, rates side effects on a 0–10 scale, estimates your medication level and builds dose-timing guidance on top of it. It runs on iOS, on Android and as an iMessage extension. Our own teardown rated its protein quick-add the single best screen across seventy-eight screens of competitor product.
All of that is capture. The question is what comes back out. By MeAgain’s own published account, progress is a weight trend, progress photos and Journey Cards. Nothing MeAgain publishes describes a body-fat, lean-mass or smart-scale feature: its own muscle-loss page raises body composition only to say an app is not where it gets measured.

MeAgain’s rows come from its own published pages (meagain.com and its App Store listing, version 2.2.5), read on 31 July 2026 and re-checked 24 August 2026. A cross means the feature is absent from what MeAgain publishes, not proof the app cannot do it. This compares products rather than tiers.
Thirteen rows, and MeAgain wins or ties eight of them. That is the point. The gap is four lines at the bottom. And they happen to be the ones that answer whether the weight you lost was the weight you wanted to lose.
Two months a share card can’t tell apart
Eight weeks. Twenty pounds down. Same doses, same streak, same card.
In the first version, protein landed most days and you trained twice a week, and nearly all of it came off as fat. In the second, your appetite fell off a cliff, protein came in low, training stopped, and a quarter of those twenty pounds was lean tissue.
Every log MeAgain keeps reads the same in both versions: the meals captured, the streak intact, the weight falling on schedule. Under-eating protein is invisible to a food log precisely because the log only knows what you told it. The month it finally shows up in what you can lift is a month you cannot re-run.
The fix is the weigh-in you already do, done on a scale that reports composition: the reading arrives through Apple Health with nothing extra to type.
The protein number, and what it divides by
MeAgain describes its protein, fiber and water goals as tuned for GLP-1 users who eat less. It does not publish the formula, and we are not going to guess at it. What we can say is what a lean-mass denominator requires, a lean-mass measurement, and nothing in MeAgain’s published feature set collects one. Bild Health’s Goal Engine works on that measurement: 2.4 g per kilogram of fat-free mass in a deficit, easing to 2.0 near goal, never below 80 g for men or 60 g for women. Nothing here tells you what to eat; the narrow point is that a target sized to working tissue needs a number for the working tissue, and a food-first app has nowhere to get one. The rule is public: the free calculator runs it, and the plan it belongs to is the keep-the-muscle guide. MeAgain’s place among all thirteen apps is in the full comparison.
Where these numbers come from, and what they don’t cover
The lean-mass figure here is the range a 2026 DEXA-and-MRI meta-analysis reported across twenty trials, each medication pooled on its own. A broader 35-trial review found no study measuring objective physical function: these numbers describe mass, not what mass can do. The protein figures come from controlled energy-restriction work in populations that were mostly younger, often trained and often male. No randomized trial has tested sleep, protein or training in people taking a GLP-1 specifically — the evidence comes from energy-deficit studies generally, which is exactly why measuring your own result matters.

MeAgain alternatives, answered
Does MeAgain track muscle mass?
No, and MeAgain says so plainly: its own muscle-loss page tells readers that it does not measure muscle mass, that body composition takes a clinical scan, and that muscle is measured in a clinic, not an app; what it measures is protein intake and activity. That candor is worth respecting. It is also exactly the gap Bild Health exists to close: the clinic's scan and a body-composition scale, in one record.
Is MeAgain free?
MeAgain is free to download, and the daily loop stays free. Premium covers photo food logging, Journey Cards, the Capybara widget and unlimited Capy chat. Its App Store listing shows a Premium purchase at $69.99 alongside other options, and meagain.com names Premium without publishing a price.
What does MeAgain do better than Bild Health?
Food capture, comfortably. MeAgain takes food by photo, voice, barcode, search and quick-add, which is the broadest capture surface in the GLP-1 category, and its quick-add flow is the lowest-friction protein logging we have seen anywhere. It also runs on iOS, Android and as an iMessage extension, and its dose-timing guidance is a genuinely novel idea rather than a reskin of a reminder.
If I switch, do I lose dose tracking?
No. Shots, pills and dose changes are dated in the record, beside the measured fat and lean lines. MeAgain pairs its dose log with food logging; Bild Health pairs its dose log with a composition measurement. Which pairing you want is the whole choice this page is about.
Is it reasonable to run both during a switch?
A sensible pairing, if food capture is why you came to MeAgain: keep its meal logging, and let the composition record live where it is measured. Just give exactly one app custody of the dose history: two competing shot logs is the one arrangement that ends in a reconciliation headache.
How often do I need to weigh in for the trend to mean anything?
Daily, under the same conditions: same time, same state, before food. That sounds like more work than a weekly weigh-in and is actually less, because a daily cadence draws a trend no single morning can own. On top of that, a scan every few months is enough to keep the impedance trend anchored to something measured.
Keep the logging habit. Add the measurement.
Bild Health keeps fat mass, lean mass, protein, training and your dose history in one record — the lean number measured from your scale, anchored by imported DEXA scans.
Lose the fat. Keep the muscle.
